the company I am leased to pays company drivers .31 a mile plus free health insurance for the entire family, 40 bucks a night for all nights out, 20 bucks for loading and unloading ( even if you just sit in the truck) and $1000 for each year there put in a retirement fund. they also pay 250.00 quarterly safety bonus and at Christmas, they get 1 percent of their last years salary as a bonus, the company also has a Christmas party and wives are invited and are given presents, the lowest guy on the list has been there 15 years, Gee,I wonder why?
when I was a company driver there, my first Christmas, I got a $3000.00 bonus and my wife got a set of diamond earrings

Pay scale:
$0.38 per mile
$0.05 per mile, safety pay (for each full, accident-free week)
$40 per trailer unloaded (100% driver unload)
$16 per stop
$10 per live load
$10 for trailer cleanout
100% liftgate-equipped vans, some 45', some 48,' and some 53'
9 state running area (mostly VA, NC, and MD, but some PA, WV, SC, DE, and NJ, with two stores in TN)
This week kinda sucked for me. I pulled four loads with a total of 1400 miles.
1400 miles x $0.38 = $532
1400 miles x $0.05 = $70
4 trailers x $40 = $160
13 stops x $16 =$208
1 trailer cleanout x $10 = $10
Total gross for the week = $980
By the time it's said and done, that averages $0.70 per mile, outside of the stop pay, unload pay, etc.
Last week, on the other hand, was 5 trips, somewhere around 2300 miles, and about 15-20 total stops (I don't have my notes in front of me), which totaled $1426 gross pay ($1011 net).

I get paid by the load as a local driver, about $100 a load, twice a day, m-f. Only drive 361 miles a day. I pick up trash at a transfer station(The local trucks drop it there and then it's loaded onto me) then I take a set of turn pike doubles to a landfill, break them up and dump then on a tipper, hook back up and do it again then go home. It's hard to get 2 runs everyday though. I'd say that 40% of the time I miss at least 1 load a week and during the winter it gets real tough to get a decent check.

I'm at .57 cpm.
Paid on gate-to-gate miles so none of that driving for free BS.
My last year of OTR in 1997, I made .32 cpm.
A lot of guys I talk to nowadays (13 years later!!!) are getting anywhere from .27 to .34 cpm.
Some are getting less than that.
Sad...

I'm at $15 per hour at my ****ty local home everday job. I usually get about 50-55 hours a week but things have been gradually going downhill since I came back a year and a half ago. Im down to averaging 45 to 50 hours. I was right at 52,000 for last year and the way things are going I'm off the pace $2000 already if not more. The owner figured out it was easier to contract out the trucking work and now we just do the close by local work, all the crap stops that nobody else will do. I don't know why they asked me back to drive a brand new truck and trailer and then start farming out trucking work a month later. I wish I had stayed at Marten, I was doing just fine there.
Speaking of Marten I was at .395 cpm when I left. Of all my time there my pay was averaging out to 52,000 to 54,000 per year. I ran pretty hard and got decent miles. I'm not sure if they still have those kinds of miles over there right now though. They're really zoning in on regional work and putting more stuff on the rail.

What IS this thing you call "sweat?"
I drive for FREE.... just cuz I LOVE it! And it lets me hang out here on CAD and B.S. with the other SooperTruckers!
As for the Original Question.... considering so many Mega Carriers start people out at MUCH less.... and give them FEW raises.... and you have only a FEW years experience.....
Sounds like .35/mile is not too bad as long as you are getting good miles and don't MIND the "exercise."
If it's better than what you're getting NOW.... take the job, get the experience, and keep your eyes open for the NEXT.... and BETTER.... opportunity.
