If I remember right, Midwest Emery and Little Audrey's were owned by the Ratner brothers, Milt and Dave.

Pirkle, out of Madison Wi hauled all that Oscar Mayer freight from Madison to West Coast. Was home to a lot of big riggers back in the day. One of the former owners is still involved in an LTL outfit that trucks Wi to West Coast.

R&D went Belly up in the late 90's here was the owneres problem when he did fold he had 100 drivers and 300 office workers. Called to amny cheifs and not enough indians there. Fitzimanns went under in the Early 90's during Bush the Firsts term. Schitgall folded in the 80's during Regan when the boss tried and died to go as big as JB Hunt Nass failed when Deregulation hit.

My father driving for Midwest had a truck that he could IF needed could tell the Monforts to GET OUT OF THEIR LANE. 68 Cabover Freightliner with a 1693 Cat mated to a 6X4 and 3 speed Eatons in the back. Needless to say when he needed it it would MOVE IT MOVE IT. Saw one WARNING Rev he got for 147 in NV when they were still resonable and proper heck 3 am no traffic on the road cop was sleeping had the radar set for 140 only caught him when he stopped at boomtown for the 69cent ham and egg breakfast and to get fuel before going to San Fran.

Default Little Audrey's Anyone ?

Just wanted to Point out that,

Top MPH is'nt determined by weight of

Ur load when running on level ground, it's
determined by Gear ratio & if or not if the
Truck is Goverened or not, be it ping pong
balls or 40,000 lbs of IBP Meat, top speed will
change when U start pulling The Grade. Anyone
remember American Farm Line's or Big Sky-Mon
tana, A couple of the Farm Co-Op 's, that pulled ex
empt commodities. Some of these Trucks ran the
Ol'e 1693 T/A Caterpillar Motor & they could run
triple digits without much problem. Along with Tom
Jerry Inman's Trucks. Gone but not forgoten due to
De-regulation in 1980. 8)
