It depends on your company's policy on accidents. If it is found that it was a un- preventable accident, I doubt you will be terminated. If it is determined it was a preventable accident it may just go on your record and that will be the end of that.

Now if it was your 2nd or 3rd preventable for example than the outcome cpould be different.

Good Luck.
Yep..it depends on the companies safety dept and their view of things.

We had a guy involved in an accident and the police stated it was completely the fault of the car driver .

The safety dept decided he could have prevented it ...cost him alot of bonus money in the end.

Default Personal Video Camera Holder

I was curious, In the story about being issued a ticket for being in an accident, Some poster puts up a picture of a video camera staring out the drivers side windshield. Does anyone know if this is company issued or was it personally installed? Does anyone know where I can get one?

the camera and mount are mine not company.

i have a 100w power inverter running the laptop and the camera, the video out runs to the vcr in the sleeper with an 8hr tape.

that mount you can't buy, it's an old german camera mount that i have had for 30+ years and it was $120 then but it will hold up to a 30lb camera, has a built in triipod and wood screw and bar clamp.

ram mount makes one that will work http://65.102.174.116/rammount/produ...=RAM-B-149Z-C1

you could try this camera it's small and cheep you would just have to make a mount for it http://www.mp3playerstore.com/stuff_...ies/CAM-07.htm

one more thing my video camrea can take still pic's anytime with just a push of a button. when i say the roads are bad and we are stopping i just take a few pic's and email them to our fm.

it realy is handy.

Your question is confusing me? Why would you be fired if it wasn't your fault? It's hard to say without you telling us what actually happened.

Did anyone hit you? or... Did you hit anyone?

But the big question is..... Did you avoid getting hit? avoid hitting someone else? and in that process damage the truck?

There is a gray area when it comes to accidents. If an accident is caused and you avoid hitting someone or you got out of the way to avoid being hit and in that process you damaged your truck....... yeah, you can be fired.

They will say it was preventable (because you caused the damage to the truck, not the person who was cited for the accident). The reason is insurance. Your company will have to foot the bill and not the person who caused the accident.

Is that what happened?

you can build your own system for less than $1000.00-
you need a Desktop PC- with 2.5in(laptop) hard drives(work while truck bounces around without ruining the disc surface.)

a PCI multi-camera video card( surveilance system )

then you can hook up to 12 CCTV(including night vision) cameras---record all this to digital video(hard drive) even live stream it----sorta.

I even like the wi-fi linked mini-camera with suction cup mount---you can stick to the inside wall of your trailer and watch/record the loading/unloading,
and also mount it inside the cab- while truck is being serviced- catches the
mechanics stealing your stuff.

it's legal to lose your job for any reason, in some cases it may not be right, but no company has a legal obligation to employ you..
