Default Knight Transportation--good or bad comments?

I'm thinking of going from PTL Regional to Knight out of Indianapolis terminal. A little more pay and longer runs, supposedly. Any comments?

I geuss it depends on which Knight terminal since suppossedly they are operated seperately. I am thinking about their 4 on and 4 off. However I would work mon-thurs.... out of SLC UT... however I havent heard from any drivers if they make any money doing that. what I have heard though, is that runs are short and stuff.... i really dunno.

I drive for them now. They are a good company. I used to be out of the Indianapolis terminal but now I am out of Memphis. They will get you the miles! They have a company policy stating that you need to drive 10,800 a month, that's 2700 a week and they will get it to you! The pay is on a sliding scale. Every one starts out at the same rate. They trucks are set at 64 mph. The average length of haul is around 650 or so. They use mainly Pilots.

Knight will tell you that you need to get that weekly mileage amount before being allowed to go home, but take that with a grain of salt.

If you are on time (no driver related service failures), do not turn down a lot of loads, etc then they will usually get you home when you want to be.

At orientation they should explain to you that about the only way to get a driver service failure is to be late and not tell anyone before hand. A driver may get dispatched on a load that they can not reasonably deliver on time and all the driver has to do is send a message via QC explaining why and telling them when you can deliver and they are suppose to either reschedule, arrange a relay, or find you another load.

i would say talk to a recruiter about that 4-4 thing i know i asked about it when i applied with roehl and it turned out to be slip seating with another driver or 2 to keep the truck moving. other than that i have seen a bunch of there trucks on the road and even had one bump my truck with his trailor tonight. it happens

stay safe and keep the rubber side down

You say there requirements for driver's has dropped. What is the minimum experience required to get on with Knight?
Last I was told, I had to have 6 mos. OTR to even submit an application.

They only require 4 month exp. They will give you the miles. It is company policy to drive at least 10,800 a month. I have never seen anything less then 2500 with them.
