reading this makes me appreciate my route and the stops I do more then you can imagine.
truth is if the trucking industry wasn't full of scum bags truck stops wouldn't be full of drug dealers and pimps with ho's.
no buyers would mean no sales which would make them look else were to make income. this industry is going to **** faster then a fat girl chasing a big mac with extra sauce......

the one in troutdale OR is full of homeless folks and ho;s but sounds like a heaven compared to others.

If I feel something is shady I sleep at my stops.
I always do a tug test and proper pre trip cause I do not want to make that phone call...I dropped the trailer...

TTT truck stop I-10. Also they have the best food and apple pie, so it's a trade off.

West Memphis, AR is pretty bad. Lots of load thefts out of there. There's a Pilot in Birmingham, AL that I wouldn't advise stopping at. It's in a rough neighborhood. Flying J off of I-20 & Bonnie Wiew Rd... have had drivers robbed at gunpoint there. Lots of nasty lot lizards there too!

If I see suspicious-looking characters wandering around, I'll call inside the truck stop and report them. I have done that several times with panhandlers. Some truck stops hire off-duty local cops as security... let them handle it!

Reminds me of a truck stop that I rolled into somewhere out in W TX (think it was off I-10). This place has probably been condemned and torn down since them, I haven't been there in 3 years! They were out of fuel, no electricity, no water, the bathroom reeked of urine & feeces and there were flies everywhere. 2nd worst truck stop I have been to is the Corpus Christie Truck Stop in Corpus Christie, TX. Shower area upstairs looked like it could have been a haven for homeless drug addicts or Freddy Krueger, LOL!
