biggest complaint about 4-wheelers
When you are driving your truck, what is your biggest complaint about 4 wheelers.
|
I dont drive big trucks; but I do haul hay w/my pickup; the other night some dude was tailgating me BAD (so tempting to hit the breaks lol); I can only go 45-50mph, and he had all the room in the world to pass me. When the road turned 2 lane, he flew by me, flipping me off and honking; wtf?? I cant go 60 w/a full load of hay! I can only imagine how ticked-off you guys get w/the big trucks.
|
hmmmm, where to start? :P

question,, BEFORE he started tailgating you, did you pull out in front of him and then go 45 mph? that's how it usually goes.. |
Can I vote for all of the above?
|
I didn't vote, all 4 are tied in my book

http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...reatDivide.gif okay seriously, I hate timid mergers. #@%$!*~ Looks to me like a police video from a chase??? I hate to see sheet like that, makes me want to stay home.... Take a look at truckcrash.com and see more of the carnage. Since I saw that website I started following even further back! I now try to maintain at least 5 seconds of space between me and the car ahead of me. I guess it's a given that cars will pull right in front of me after passing, they just don't realize what a safe following distance is. But when big rigs pull in front of me with about a car length of room, it P's me off even worse. Are there anymore professional truckers left? What ever happened to waiting for a trucker to flash his lights before pulling back in front of him? I rarely get my hand to the light switch before the truck is already in front of me! Do I sound bitter? Sorry, I hate whiners, but after having several trucks cut me off last week, I'm sort of fed up. I think most on this forum know better, judging from the posts, so I'm just venting here, not blaming... hope you don't mind :x Peace out, Riff Raff. |
That was a police chase in South Carolina. If memory serves me right, it was a guy and a girl, mid 20's who had stolen a lawnmower or something which was in the back of the truck. Semi never had a chance to slow up. The pursuing officer saw it coming and knew they were dead before they got run over.

Dammm, that is a nasty video ! I feel bad for the trucker. The problem I have with 4-wheelers is they drive on the same roads we do !

They tailgate. If I have one lane to drive in and a speed limit of 65 mph, they stick their bumper right behind my trailer (I see their headlight reflecting off my trailer) .. as soon as I get two lanes, I move over to the slow lane, but God forbid we have one lane and they dont feel like doing the speed limit

Friggin traffic!
This week my biggest complaint was 4-wheelers (and trucks, too) passing me and then pulling right in front of me, with like maybe, one car length of room. I've seen so many rear end accidents as of late, that I refuse to get too close to another vehicle on the road. In the snow and ice around Indiana and Ohio this week, I saw 4 trailer trucks in the ditch and rolled over or broken apart. I just can't seem to keep a safe following distance, especially when it's slippery, unless I start backing up! Sometimes those friggin' 4-wheelers will cut in front of me and slow down! What can be going through their heads anyway? "I want to die now, please run over me..."?

Actually, I don't blame the 4-wheelers that much. All the times I've heard "STUPID 4-WHEELER" on the radio, I keep in mind... Many of them are not stupid. They are teachers, doctors, lawyers, business executives. People that would not be where they are if they were stupid. But, they ARE UN-INFORMED. And, I blame DOT for that. DOT has the responsibility for safety on the hiways. Why are they not telling the public that one eighth of a mile in front of a truck is a SUICIDE ZONE. If they don't know about it, I suggest that they are not qualified to hold the positions they do. If they do know about it and are not telling the public, I suggest they are GUILTY OF VIOLATION OF PUBLIC TRUST. Yes, there are times when it takes more than half a mile to stop a truck, but I'd settle for an eighth of a mile as a general rule. |
suicide zone
I noticed that Ohio now has signs along the highway that say "leave enough room" and an illustration of a trailer truck with and arrow pointing to twice the length of the truck in front of the truck. And it says "don't get a ticket". It illustrates that 4-wheelers need to leave more room before pulling in front of a truck. I can't see where it has done any good whatsoever. But, when I think the whole world is against trucks, it's nice to see that someone is making, at least, an effort, to help truckers in some small way. It's not much, but it's a step in the right direction.
Also, I have had people tell me they got a ticket for tailgating, wish that would happen more often... |
I don't mind them tailgating, it's their problem if they hit me and it ain't gonna hurt me much, heck I might be lucky if I even feel it. It's the one's who chop me off just to make a turn 200 ft later and do it with a young child in the car. I hate it when a person does that and I see that safety seat in there.

rear enders
I was just talking with a friend who lives in Massachusetts. He says it's been a common thing around there to pull in front of someone and hit the brakes and then sue them for hitting them. Until recently. Someone tried to do that in front of a big truck. He couldn't stop, and went right over the car and killed everyone in it. Not a pretty sight. So, I guess they've calmed down a bit, but I sure wish the cops would write more tickets for that. I still have people cutting in front of me all the time.

Yah, getting cut off by cars is a definite problem. Maybe that's why I see some 18 wheelers in the hammer lane; they figuer that way, it's less likely to get cut off?
|
Biggest complaint about 4-wheelers... UMMmmm......... Let's see......
Wish they could come up with a "COMMON SENSE" test that they had to pass in order to get their license. Of course, it would be the 4-wheelers that would be coming up with that test, and it would make no sense at all, so that idea is dead. But if they did use just a little common sense, we would not need P.A.T.T. or C.R.A.S.H. We could keep the roads nice and safe without them. Georgia has signs much like Ohio. "LEAVE MORE ROOM AND AVOID A TICKET". But, unfortunately, the 4-wheelers don't know how to read signs either. Sign says the exit is coming up in 2 miles, but they're out in that left lane, then just before the exit, they have to get across 3 lanes of traffic to get the exit. Can't read road signs. Something to do with the colors of the sign????? |
All of the above plus more.
My biggest complaint is when they are coming up on you and they flas their highbeams (at night) so you can SEE them. Damn foriegners from that country to the west of my state  |
They only have 4 wheels and what they had for brains are still at home.

I picked up a load of lumber in NY last week and they guy in front of me couldn't read, write or speak English. The shipper told me that his dispatcher called and told him what to do: "just show him where to sign, he'll be all right". Then he drove through a stop sign and proceeded out the entrance gate. With truckers like that, and most assuredly, 4 wheelers too, it's no wonder they are in the wrong lane and doing stupid stuff at the last minute. They can't read because they can't read! |
