Default CH Robinson The Good, The Bad, The Ugly?

Ok for the guys that have used, thought of using or went with the other guys. Let's try to restrict this for the past 12 months. If something that is more than a year ago that you don't use CH Robinson, go ahead and post what happened.

I have worked for several companies that hauled freight for CH Robinson. I never had any problems with them per say, and the rates were usually on the low side of things.

i love CHR. 90% of my back hauls are with them. i think their rates are pretty good, yes SOMETIMES you run heavy for them. most times i run between 8-29000 lbs. i get great rates but the key is getting to know the broker. i only deal with 1 broker though them. also cant go wrong with their quick pay

Instigator, what do you consider to be a low rate?

From the limited number of responders, I would say that the talk about CH in truck stops and on the cb has been pretty much water cooler talk.

1.20 to 1.40 per mile would be very low to me. On average we get at least 1.75 to 2.20 per mile. Its getting harder and harder to get good paying freight. What I dont understand is why are these huge trucking companies allowing this to happen in the first place? There should be a national set of rates that everyone uses and eliminate the low baller scum sucking companies like JB Hunt, Shcneider, Marten, US Express, Werner, Heyl, Tango, First Fleet, PAM, Heartland, and all the rest of the bottom dwellers.

We have the power to make changes but dont have the balls to do so.

Oh, and In my opinion CH is not a bad broker, I personally have never had a problem with them. I think brokers in general are bad for this industry because they all take too much away from the truck doing the work. It would be better if they got paid a separate set fee from the shippers instead of pulling out what ever they want from the truck rate. If they did this more trucks would be making better money.

I am not sure that getting rid of the brokers would result in truckers making more money. I don't consider low rates the fault of brokers. It is truckers who determine rates. If it were not for some who are willing to run for fuel money, rates would be higher.
