Amazing meltdown on Amen Corner today by the defending champion. In particular the 12th Hole became game over!

We always started with keeping score, up till about the 3rd hole! Rules be darned! The rules really weren't ever enforced by the course ranger, he was drunk and too busy laughing at all of us amateurs! Heck, he was the one that would go, "psst, hey, hit another..............ah, thas ok, hiter agai." If it was a situation not listed on the back of the scorecard, we put it to a vote on what to do! We didn't know anything about grounding of clubs and such or walking off the green before you make your putt. I did play a real course once, the University of Akron played their home matches there. Played with my brother in law who played at Akron on a full ride and my father in law, nice course, think I hit a 90 and made $20 off some mafia guys!

Golf is one of the most frustrating games I have played.

Why would anyone want to spend their spare time chasing a small ball about a large course, just to try and get it into a little hole in the ground.

Mr. Ford95 04-27-2016 05:22 AM

Because if you get good at it, you can make some seriously good money!

well.... up where I live, it's how we train for hockey in the off season, and all you really need is a putter. :)

Roadhog 04-27-2016 02:40 PM

...oh, ya hey dare... and someone to guard the hole, eh. :roll3:

Forgot about this, Jim Furyk turned back the clock a bit 2 weeks ago. Shot the single greatest round in the history of the PGA with a 58. This alone is why golf is a great game to pick up and get good at. Furyk has been playing for years, has to be getting close to moving to the Senior Tour, yet he was playing like he was still 30! You have golfers turning pro by 17/18 and playing well into their 70's. IF you can make the cut at each event and hit up about 30 events a year, you can make an easy an $300K a year in prize money just by finishing last after making the cut. Toss in any sponsorship you can pick up and it's even better. The hardest part is just getting started, a set of clubs is not cheap for the good ones. Then getting your tour card.........that's the worst part, most expensive part!

I never got into golf. Although I did play once. It was fun but I was there mainly for the free 12 packs in the golf carts 👍😜
