What's wrong with this picture?

Should our government really be worried about who has the best college football team?

I don't agree with the govt. getting involved, but who else is going to do anything to fix this BCS mess that comes down yearly now? The BCS needs to be dropped for a playoff but the NCAA and Big 6 conferences are not going to allow it because it is such a big money maker for all of them vs having a simple playoff system. You need some higher authority to make them change things.

Of course ND was quoted the other day as saying a playoff would be impossible. For ND it would be impossible because it would force them to join the Big East as a full member and they would probably have to drop their TV deal with NBC also. They don't want that for football so yeah, a playoff would be impossible for them, they will fight it tooth and nail.

It seems the sports fans and those wagering money on sports that have political clout are using their government positions to push their own personal agenda...the MLB/STEROID hearings were a good example of this type of agenda .

BCS is a mess

I don't want the government fixing it either, but something needs to be done. The BCS is a joke. There is only one way to crown a champion and that is to let it be decided on the field with a playoff.
