BS Championship Game

Well, they cancelled my run tonight so I am off, watching the game.

It looked like Ohio St was holding their own at first, but it looks like LSU is working on them pretty good in the 2nd quarter. Of course it aint over yet, but LSU might just run away with it, if Ohio St dont get their act together.

This game was over when they picked Ohio State to be in the game. :)

I am thoroughly enjoying seeing the BCS tank once again and seeing the Big 10 exposed for pretenders. I actually like Ohio State, but they did not deserve to be in this game.

Well, I figured LSU would have blown them out by the 4th, but Ohio St is staying in it.

Blowout.

Again.

Bring on the playoffs! 2010, baby! 8)

:D Yeah Twilight we need a playoff system but I don't think we'll ever see it in our lifetime! :?

Yep, story broke on Yahoo yesterday that 9 of the 11 conferences now favor a +1 playoff system and will be discussed in depth in the off-season, since the BCS contract expires after next year.

The two conferences against it? Big 10 and Pac 10. Big surprise there.

A +1 is coming...it'll be here in the next couple years. They finally have no other alternative other than completey scrap the BCS and go back to letting coaches and the AP vote on the National Champion. Since that won't happen and there's so much wrapped up in the BCS, they'll use it to seed a 4 team playoff, which will force the idiots in the Big 10 and the Pac 10 to scrap one of their cupcake games and adopt a split conference championship like everybody else. It won't be perfect, but it'll be a hell of a lot better than the current garbage heap the BCS is and it will even the playing field.

Finally...

I agree! Maybe I'll start watching again.

Well, when the BS, I mean, BCS contract ends, maybe they can get enough folks (NCAA bigwigs) to vote for playoffs. They need to.

I've always wondered why the Big 10 doesnt have a conference championship game. I believe, the Big 10 is the only conference that doesnt have one.

Twilight Flyer 01-08-2008 08:15 PM

The Big 10 doesn't have one because without one, they have a better chance of landing an undefeated or 1 loss team in a title game, meaning more money for the conference. 2nd year in row that's been the case and the 2nd year in a row the BCS has been blown up by a clearly superior team. The LSU beat down of Ohio State was a huge push toward a +1.

Interestingly enough, I'm an Ohio State fan, but I am sick and tired of the unfairness of the current BCS system and while it's sad to see Ohio State having to be the sacraficial lamb again, someone has to do it for the future of NCAA football.

The BCS can tweak their stupid formula all they want, but all it ever does is add more weight to the Big 10. The other commish's are starting to open their eyes and see that. It was pretty funny listening to the FOX mouth-breathers last night hyping up Ohio State and how much better they played than the year before and how they deserved to be there, even while they were down 38-17 with the game just about over. Big 10 slipping them some "say something nice about us" cash.
