Your boy did decent, stayed out of trouble and finished 25th. Still in the Top 30 of owner points, so he is looking at being guarenteed a spot in a few races. First 5 races go on last year's owner points. He is sitting in 10th place for the points. Head to the Mexico City road course next week. Hope he doesn't mind a flat road course, the turns are either dead flat or have negative banking and it's a rythmn track. You don't race your counterparts so to speak, you just focus on hitting your marks and getting into a rythmn.

Gudday mate ,
Sorry I havnt been checking in recently . Doing 1 day on 1 off rehabilitating getting back to work after breaking my leg at a local skid site so I havnt had so much spare time. We have also had some good weather as well so I have had the Harley out as much as possible!! From what I have seen (We get minimal coverage over here in New Zealand) Marcos has been doing a not bad job (Read gaining momentum but not actually setting the place on fire) His last finish was 28th and the reason he gave was poor car set up> Is this a legit excuse? Supposedly Atlanta is a tyre chewer so I guess that wouldnt have helped. Race prior to that putting it into the wall on the pole shoot out lap didnt help either but was a respectable finish considering he was using an untested spare car. The road course in Mexico gave a glimmer of how good the man actually is (Or are most Nascar Drivers average at best on road courses?) After the spin he was quite a ways back and made up a heap of spots in a few laps tho safety cars bunching up the pack must have had an effect here? He was like this in his first season of the supercars so wait untill he gets good at it :D :D :D |
Sucks about the leg, cheers on getting better soon.
Marcos did real well at Mexico in making up something like 6 or 7 spots on the final 2 lap sprint after spinning out. Mexico has very few passing zones, but he was making his own passing zones it looked like. Most NASCAR drivers are not good road racers, especially in the Busch Series. You can count on 1 hand how many good road course drivers there are in the Cup Series, not including the road course "specialists" that show up for these races only. NASCAR simply does not run enough road courses for these guys to get good so they usually don't worry about trying to win, just try to get a decent finish and move on to next week. Not surprised about wrecking at Las Vegas, even seasoned veterans were wrecking. It was a new track to all the drivers from what it was last year, they repaved it and made the banking steeper. Didn't help that Goodyear brought a tire that was so hard, the left sides could have stayed on the entire race and had very little wear on them. Atlanta is very easy to drive with a good setup but with a bad one, it is evil. The weather played a major role, it was really cold and caused a lot of teams to struggle with the setup. They weren't exactly expecting it to be around 5 degrees celsuis. Plus it rained really bad the night before which caused the track to be "green," meaning no rubber was on the track so the cars had a hard time finding the grip they needed. Cold air and no rubber means a whole lot of slipping and sliding. |
Oh yes, "wait till he gets good." He is 7th in the points currently as the series heads to one of the 2 toughest tracks on the circuit, Bristol. Then again, just because you do well in Busch doesn't mean it will translate to a Cup career, yes you will get a shot but it may be with an underfunded team and that will kill your Cup career 9 out of 10 times. He is under a good group though in the Wood Brothers, he should land a darn good Cup ride if he gets the chance.

Snow in the Forecast for this years Bristol? :P
|
Nah, not this year yoop. :D Just rain this time, too warm for the white stuff. That is only the 2nd time I have seen a race either delayed or postponed due to snow. The other was an early 90's race at Atlanta when they got 2 feet of snow the Saturday night before the race. An old Rockingham race from way back in the day was postponed one week for snow but I was not around or can remember it.
