Sort of an odd question here, but I'm a truck and trailer tech, and have my class 1(Canada). However I have no interest in driving. Won't name names, but the company I work for has told several of its fleet service techs we have to drive. Company downsizing, and some one up stairs figures it's better to lay off drivers and keep the techs around in case things pick back up.
Problem is I can't drive more than a hour without having to pull off the road. I fall asleep behind the wheel no matter what I do. I can be wide awake, and as soon as I start driving its like someone is rappidly pushing the lights off switch on the back of my head......
Anyways I'm in search of new job. untill then do you guys have any tips in keeping a rig on the road and bottom side down. The run is 300km to the next city, and back daily (2shifts). Supposed to be a 10 hour round trip in good traffic. Slower during a mid winter snow storm. I'm thinking Ill have to stop half a dozen times or more to keep myself awake...I'll see how long I last, i just hope I don't drive off the road.
