funny, I was just going to post about this. what do you guys think the future will bring? I'd like to get a glider soon and avoid the emissions but how long can we duck that? I mean, they do get better fuel milage after all so how long do we realyhave in the old trucks?
I figure by 2020, it will be truly a wise business move to get a newer truck to stay competitive. Fuel mileage as it is needs to be bettered by 2+ mpg to justify the cost for me. Otherwise the new payment etc to get a new truck, increased insurance etc make it financially a break even point.
My current truck fits the need and a new engine will easily push me to the point it will be required.
The bigger issue is the automated vehicles. Talk about putting a few million people out of work, truck drivers would be toast. The drone usage is already the start with Amazon attempting to do deliveries themselves.
I was discussing with a friend, in 10-15 automated vehicles will be all over the place, in 20-25 you will not be able to find a vehicle that isn't self drive. By then, fuel mileage will be moot, they will probably all be fully electric.
