Morning all. Looking for a decent portable cab heating solution. Don't want to install a bunk heater yet. I have a 2000watt inverter in my rig. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated. Ty

with that big of an inverter you might get one of thoose oil filled heaters, I use them at home usually on the low heat setting and just turned up to 2-3 and they work great. they dont use much power at all. i would read the power draw an see what it say's.

in my opinion with using one that plugs in to an inverter you are kinda defeating the purpose. you'll drain your batteries out

you can take a look at Mr Heater. It's propane for indoor use. You'd have to be careful though. Lowes has the best price in my area for those.

IMO you should bite the bullet and install an APU with bunk heater. Your batteries will be good, you will save fuel and overall maintenance cost. Even if not best credit there are places to get financed. I have one financed and my credit was not great. Yes payments are little higher than hoping but I still save more than payment and my driver loves me for it. Great investment I think every truck should have. I second the TriPac. I've never owned one, but I've had four different company trucks with TriPacs over a few years, and only one part ever failed in that time (fan blower motor seized up). Yes, they will spoil you rotten.

DON'T DO I!!!! If you do have a fire truck follow you because what you're talking about is VERY dangerous. But if you do use an oil-filled unit so you don't expose your bedding, etc. to any major heating coils like with an electric heater.

The real solution is a Webasto heater that runs off your diesel fuel.

I use a Robin/Subaru diesel 3500 watt generator with an oil-filled heater in my truck and it worked great. You can buy the heater at Wally World.
