We are pondering going into California and need some verification on how I read California's laws. On their website it looks like I do not have to have CARB compliant truck, Smartway skirts/aerodynamic pieces or the CARB approved tires since pulling flatbed and NOT box type trailer (will be '09 Cascadia w/DD15 so will be compliant anyhow, engine wise). Main thing is the 40' for kingpin to rear axle thing, have to comply there if want to travel on certain roads, no regs on STAA routes though. Also need to measure center to center on spreads to see what weights I can haul on them. I hope I am not reading wrongly. http://www.arb.ca.gov/cc/hdghg/fact_...Fact_Sheet.pdf
If somebody can shed light on this or have a good phone to call for CA to ask.
