Hey everybody,
I recently received my CDL and took a job shipping cars. Since I am new to the industry, I was wondering if anybody could give me tips and advice on how to survive out there on the road. It's obvious I will be doing a lot of driving, but I really want to know what are the little things that help get you through tough days, what are the do's and don'ts of truck driving, etc.
It is really important to me that I start my career off with a strong start, so any and all advice would be truly appreciated.
I don't know a thing about car hauling, but truckin is trucking to a point. Best thing I can say is just start looking around and read, read, and read some more. Then if you still have questions (you will) then ask specific ones. But for now KEEP YOUR CDL CLEAN! And pay attention to your trainer, you have two eyes and two ears and only one mouth for a reason. Never ever be the fastest truck on the road! There all slowing down for a reason!
Keep your head on a swivel while driving and while spending the night at a T/S. And don't trust anyone you don't know!
