The last time I talked to one, it is route sales and long hours. A few that I talked to had days that started at 5am and ended at 11pm, your hours are dictated by what your customers want. The truck is already pre-loaded, but you take the product out and distribute it to your customers. You also have to deal with money.
Yep already talked to several drivers. But they get $1000 if I sign up. So I wanted some opinions that were not loaded with the "good" stuff. Thanks though.
I see the local driver here out at midnight and on occasion seen him out at 4 am.....they seem to be always looking and after your training period which I believe they pay a salary your on commission........I would think twice about it.
I talk to my Schwans guy all the time. He loves his work. Makes about 68 grand a year ( he has a very upper middle class and rich neighborhood for his route) He works until about 8 or 9 every night and has weekends off. It is pretty much a straight commission job, and if you have good sales skills you can do very well. Also JB hunt recruits for them, believe it or not.
It really depends what Division you're talking about. Home Service is the door to door sales thing. But they also have a Retail side that is about the same as any other retail delivery job. You get pre-orders from the stores and then deliver and setup. Schwan's retail products include Red Baron, Freschetta and Tony's pizza, Mrs. Smith Pies Asian Sensations and others I don't remember off hand. They also have an OTR division that delivers from the suppliers to the individual depots. (That's probably what you're recruiting for Sheepdancer)

Most accurate so far....(I did home delivery in NH in late 80's)
And the products are excellent (but some a bit pricey)

Most companies don't have a high sign on bonus. Its really a work bonus ( you can earn up to...scam. You will mostly likely not be getting the $1000 when you sign on.
I saw a bill board advertising $10000 sign on with us scam.

They are paid by comession also. Just like the bread guys, Little Debbie guy, Chip guy, Sara Lee guy, and on and on. All those little trucks that run around to grocery stores and deliver and set up the products are sales jobs. Have a good route, make good money, have a suckie route, you starve.
