hey all-
I am thinking about moving my business to Illinois, I've had my interstate authority(MC&DOT) for some time now but I'm getting conflicting statements on what I need for Illinois IRP registration. The question is...Do I need an Illinois MC number if my business is based in IL or is the Illinois MC number only for carriers who haul "intrastate" loads? Thanks

You only need intrastate authority if you pick up and deliver within the same state. Not all states have intrastate authority. You need to check with Illinois, or OOIDA. OOIDA has up to date information on such things.
Ill also has the most expensive base plate of all the states, like around $2700.00 for 48 states
You could also call the IL.DOT in Springfield, 1-217-782-4815 or 1-217-782-4816.
If u move to Illinois u will need an Illinois MC number to
To pick up loads and drop off loads here if u don't have your Illinois MC number they will shut u down
