Having just finished up 90% of my End-Of-Year tax preps, and doing so with Excel programs I made up myself, I am looking for "a better mousetrap" for next year. Something like QuickBooks for a trucker, I guess...
What do you all use? I know last year I posed this question and got a few replies, but am sorta doing a "poll" as to which is best. I only want to buy one program.
Thanks Fellas. 8) John

I have been using Trucknpro and Easy Trucking. I like the simplicity of Trucknpro. It will do most of what you want except the fuel tax calculations for about $75. Easy Trucking will do pretty much everything, including the fuel tax calculations and sells for around $149. After the sale support is pretty much non-existent. Another one I looked at is Truckers Helper. Some people think it is more involved than they want. The price depends on how much you want it to do and how many trucks you run. I believe each of these programs have on line demos you can check out before buying. I have a list of other programs specific to the trucking industry if you are interested. Let me know and I will see if I can find it. You can also use Quick Books Pro Edition. It isn't specific to trucking, but would keep the books for you. Do you need to have a Balance Sheet or P & L?
Thanks BTNIC and Gman. Gman, I don't have a Profit and Loss or balance sheet, per se, made up yet... I have just done my income on one sheet, and my expenses on several others. I'm sure what I have would suffice for my accountant. But, for next year, I want a quick, easy program to track my income and expenses and thus (hopefully) save many hours of EOY paperwork next year.
Right now, I do a monthly fuel expense sheet (again one I made up in Excel) with mileage in each state/ each load for my tax lady. She takes care of filing my fuel reports each month.
Gman, I'd welcome anything you can send me. And thanks for the comments... John
