ok tech question for you ppl that use cbs frequently.. I have had mine for 6 months ... worked fine, and now there is ZERO squelch... can't hear anything... when I turn on my cb instead of hearing everyone say screw ur mother etc... i dont hear a thing... when I do a radio check someone will say they hear me, but im thinking they are a truck right next to me...
when I switch to weather, i get the squelch.... i guess what im asking is it a cb problem or a problem with connection in truck..... anyone know??
p.s its a cobra 29 nightwatch
Well, if you cant hear anything, it sounds like you have antenna problems. Check your coax ends, both inside the truck, and outside. Check your antennas, as well. Check for cracks, breaks. Look also, at the base of your antennas, where they screw into the connectors. One of the antennas may be broke loose at the base. I would just do a walk-around, and look over your antenna parts. Connectors, coax, antennas, etc..
Try turning off the soundtracker feature if you have it on.
Also try adjusting your RF gain. You might have it too low.
If those fail and it is not an antenna issue go toss the cobra 29 nw/st in the trash and get yourself either a cobra 29 without the soundtracker BS or a Uniden radio.

I don't know anything about that model Cobra but does it have a SWR Switch?
If it does check out what your SWR says to you on the meter.
Ok people 11 meter 101 here thats the cb radio channels
1 if your not getting a signal a few problems come to mind your anttena conections need looking at
2 your grounding might need to be checked.
3. SWR Signal wave ratio needs to be 1:1 if higher then that you will not get a signal out period.
4. Check your RF gain turn it up.
and last check your squelch just have it to were it breaks open on reciving.
oh and one more you could have had your finals fried by some jerk with a prirate rig transmitting close to you.
