Hey Guys... Just got my truck out of the shop Friday. I had the bottom bearings replaced (main and rod), new oil pump, new front main seal, and a few odds and ends. They also turned my truck's horsepower up from 330-430 split HP to fixed 470 h.p.. Engine is an N14 Cummins...
When I picked it up, it sounded "different"... a little more clatter at idle. Driving it the 125 miles home, on about 5 occasions, I got a knocking sound. Mostly when climbing hills (running empty). It would knock varying from a little to a lot, then the noise would go away. Oil pressure is fine, truck runs fine, except for this.
I had an overhead done a couple months ago. The truck ran OK when I took it in, except for the chronic low oil pressure I have had. They seem to have fixed that problem, but now a new problem! :x
I am guessing maybe an injector going bad? I am no mechanic... some of you who have ideas, please offer them! I won't be back on the computer until Monday, but will check your replies before calling the mechanic.
Thanks fellers............ 8)
