A scale does not differentiate between ice and the load. weight is weight.
How close to 80,000 are you scaling?
I was at 77,900 and had to break off the big chunks to get it lower (I have an on board scale system, and was way too close to 80,000 for my liking), it may be worth it to scale again and then act accordingly.Good luck.
Well I guess we will be beating ice off tomorrow.....we are so packed with ice our mud flaps are dragging in the back of the trailer. we are grossing at least 78,000. We repowered this load for a new company driver who was scared sh**less to drive any further. we picked up the load in Joplin MO and all the scales are iced up so far....hopefully we can weigh in Amerillo.
We have prepass but due to the companys bad saftey record we are afraid we would get a red light.
78,000 is a little close to call, I broke off a few big ones that had to weigh 75lbs each, so it does make a difference, and if you company is on the iffy side, I would definitely take the time and get rid of the ice, you sure don't need an over weigh to deal with.
