Maverick unit announces pay raise for drivers
By CCJ Staff
Maverick Specialized has announced a pay raise for current and potential drivers. Effective Jan. 28, Maverick Specialized will offer starting pay of 40 to 41 cents per mile for company drivers with experience, and starting pay of 37 to 40 cents per mile in both its student and trainee programs.
This constitutes 1- to 2-cent per-mile increase across the board for Maverick Specialized, a division of Maverick Transportation. Along with the pay increase, Maverick Specialized will offer a pay package, including fuel bonus opportunities, detention pay, referral bonus and complete medical benefits.
Sounds like Maverick is growing? Either that or they are compensating for loss of miles to their drivers.
Maverick bought out Schneider's flatbed divison, aka: Specialized, aka: Glass haulers. Guess that would be under Growth, right?
Driving ugly orange Freightshakers and only hauling glass? No thanks.
Yah, my husband talked with a Maverick specialized driver at a truck stop the other day, asked him if he was happy and liked driving for Mavy..the driver said it was "ok" and just another job. Not words I'm used to hearing applied to Maverick...

The veteran drivers that I've talked to tell me that they drag in the money when the glass moving, it is apparently very seasonal. I also notice them hauling alot of other freight too. I saw a mav. specialized a couple of weeks ago with a couple of small airplane hulls, no wings just the body. I've seen them with heavy equipment and such too. I would love to do the specialized stuff..except for the glass. That would have to be nerve wracking!
As always, my opinion differs from most...but I kinda like the orange trucks..LOL.
