Hello everyone!
My name is Travis and I just started in a sales position for a company and we sell used Semi's. I do not know much about semis and the different models, engines, etc.
I am looking for someone to point me in the right direction. I need to learn more about these trucks, International and Freightliner manily. Is there a resource that I can go to in order to learn more?
I hope I have been clear on what I am looking for and I hope that someone can help me out.
Thanks Everyone!!
Travis
I suggest going to the manufacturers websites and start researching. Also hit the engine and component websites. They're pretty straightfoward and userfriendly and have lots of downloadable information, mostly in .pdf format.
If your dealership does not have literature available, give the truck, engine, power train makers a call and ask them to send you some. Tell them what you want to learn about and the put your reading glasses on.
Also you can learn about these trucks by visiting the web sites for the truck manufatures and then you can visit the sites for engines like Detroit, Cat, Cummins, transmission makers like Rockwell, Eaton, Dana, Spicer. Many of these also make rear ends for trucks.
Learn to sell the sizzle instead of the steaks.
The facts and features are important, but in sales, you need to know the benefits of every fact. If you try to sell just the features without the benefits, you will end getting into a point-by-point comparison with the competitors' trucks.
If you are selling a variety of truck brands, then develop the reasons the customer should buy from you (and your company). Create a list of pros and cons (for your use only) and then develop positive benefits for each item
