I recently got an alignment done on my truck and the mechanic said the front axle was "within" spec. What are the "proper" specs or range of specs for the front axle? Does this vary a lot by manufacturer?
Camber is .4 and .0
Caster is 1.8 and 2.8
toe is .04 and .03 for a "total" of .06 (I guess due to rounding)
Those specs are ok. I personally would like the toe to be straight ahead and a little higher on the caster. Gives a little better road feel but your ok
According to meritor, toe should be 1/16 inch, and I think .06 is right at that.
I thought the same too about the caster, I guess the guy didn't want to put any shims in!
How much caster do you recommend? 3 degrees? 3.5?
99 volvo 770, meritor front axle.
