This survey is rather silly. Every O/O out here knows that there is a difference between what you claim as net income vs what you might really make. This is not a simple question of oh I make $150,000 a year. I might show that I made $35,000.00 last year, but that is after the deprecation on my tractor, the car that I use as a write off, and many other expenses.

It is not a cut and dry question. Any O/O can manipulate the figures as they want to. I have met guys who would argue me all day long that they make more money than I do because they gross more. I run 100,000 less miles than they do a year, but they still think they made more than me because they grossed $5,000.00 more than I did.

You might do better to ask some other questions. Your answers would be more clear.

my first year out was just over 100k, a few months into my second year and i`m hoping to do a little better even though I took a couple months off when my wife had our twins.

All of us are grossing good money - the question is how much are we keeping.

Just so everybody here is clear _ NET_ is what you take home. All these people talking about taking home $150,000 up to $300,000. Hmm - then posting losses for the year? Somewhere the term Net income has gotten lost in this thread.

The primary idea is to not show a profit. I prefer showing a net operating loss. :P

my numbers were my net, if I made 100k before expenses i`d be single, living in my truck and eating 3 meals a day off the dollar menum ,my cost per mile is 76 cents and thats with the equipment paid off, if I only cleared 24 cpm i`d go flip burgers for a pay increase.


I run as efficently as I can without beating myself up, my 11 hours are spent behind the wheel doing 75 (legally) I rarely tarp, I never wait to unload or load and I piss away maybe an hour a week between fueling and pre and post trip, everything I do is planned around keeping the truck rolling for an honest 11 hours 6 days a week, i`m not out there killing myself but turning 4300 a week is about my weekly average.


as far as guys saying their running at a net loss i`ll say this, i`ve got a tuned up kw at home that pulls a lowboy and my wife made very little money last year as far as the irs is concerned :lol:
