Crete/Shaffer or Heartland
-
I was scheduled for orientation with Shaffer before Christmas but due to a family illness I rescheduled for next week. The recruiter said I had a choice of Crete or Shaffer and to let him know by Friday. The thing is last week Heartland called and said I was approved and that next week is good for their orientation as well. Any one have any ideas. Heartland is more per mile but I have heard more positive things about Crete/Shaffer. Any help will be appreciated

Crete is WAY better than Heartland. Shaffer is good too if you want to deal with grocery warehouses. you wont make more with Heartland because you wont get the miles, you also wont get the hometime they promise you, I base this info on what 3 drivers I know who used to work for them told me
I worked for Shaffer and my brother works there now, it's not perfect, but it's way better than Heartland

I'm a vary satisfied Crete driver, never pulled for Heartland so can't say any thing bad about them.
Crete/shaffer are sticklers for logs and customer service. Pay is good and they do work to get you home on time.

When you quit, truck cleaning fee about $150. Don't take their insurance. If you don't live near one of their terminals they'll stretch your days out, and stretch, and stretch. All this information too late but it might help someone.
