Drug convictions are particularly difficult to overcome, especially in this industry. Being that it is a misdemeanor is better than if it were a felony. Felonies are usually problematic for at least 7-10 years. Drug convictions will likely fall under the same guidelines. Still, each company makes their own decisions concerning drug and alcohol convictions. The probation violation will likely hurt you, but if it is something that you really want you will need to do some leg work. I don't know of any of the carriers who will accept a drug conviction after 5 years. There is a company listing on this forum. You can check the minimum requirements. Most list their policy on criminal convictions. Much of their decision will be based upon the circumstances, drugs involved and your history since the conviction. You didn't mention whether you already have a CDL. I will assume from your post that you don't yet have a CDL. I would advise you to check around and see if a company will hire you before paying for a driving school.
