Willie's Place is a "classic" country station on Sirius/XM. It's channel 64 on Sirius.
Bill Mack is a DJ on "Willie's Place". Bill Mack was a DJ on WBAP am 820 for years. He was the Midnight Cowboy. He had an all night radio show on WBAP.
Anyhow.... Here's a question for all you OTR guys. Bill Mack talks about Willie's Place at Carl's Corner. Carl's Corner is actually a small town, south of Ft Worth on I-35, right where 35 splits.. I've seen it, but I can't place everything that is there. Bill Mack always talks about the truck stop, and the station, and other site seeing things.
So..what's all there? Have yall seen that radio station, truck stop, and other tourist traps,..I mean attractions? Bill Mack is always telling the truckers to stop by, and see him, and other stuff. Have yall stopped at Carl's Corner?

Carl's is basically just a truck stop. It has been around for a long time. I haven't stopped in there for a number of years. If I remember correctly, the truck stop was in disrepair and Willie Nelson either bought it or put money in it. They remodeled it and made a nice facility out of it. As I understand it this is where Willie Nelson started his Biodiesel or BioWillie.
Ok. Well, I knew it was a truck stop, but I remember it being small, and not a lot there. They make it sound real nice on radio. Just wondering.
and that would be 13 on the xm side. WBAP really screwed him over there towards the end. They trademarked the name "Midnight Cowboy" and made him play so many commercials that it really wasn't a show anymore. When he was switching over to XM, they told him he couldn't use the term Midnight Cowboy anymore....thats why he switched to the Satelite Cowboy.
Yeah, that's true, Phantom. WBAP was once a good radio station. Now, they are pretty decent, with Rush, and Hannity, and other shows. It's still not the same as it once was.
Funny thing, I passed by it today, I was going to stop but decided I will check it out the next time I pass by.

The last time I was down that way their sign was falling down, but that was several years ago. It seems that when I am out that way I stick close to I-20 or I-30. If I get on I-35 it is usually I-35W north. Next time I get out there I should stop in and check it out again.
I may have to stop, if I'm ever that way.
