Just got off the phone with Schneider and they tell me that they don't reimburse tuition unless you went to there school and paid with your own money?? is this accurate information?? and do all companies do this?? AND PLEASE FOR THE LIFE OF ME DON'T TURN THIS INTO ANOTHER COOLIE CARRIER IS PREYING ON THE YOUNG!!!
It is probably accurate, but no, not all carriers do that. Some do have a tuition reimbursement program for those who went to a private school.
Tuition Reimbursement (TR)
Something else to keep in mind about TR, employers will pay it at a rate of so much per month. Let's say $100/month. If you stay with your initial employer for only a year, do the math. If a driver expects to be fully reimbursed for the tuition paid, figure out how long the initial employer will have that driver working for 'em. In most cases, subsequent driver employers will not pay TR.
If a future driver already itemizes a tax return, training tuition may be subject to being written off at tax time. BOL
Any company that offers a tuition reimbursement is more then likely going to ask that you either sign a contract to pay them back. They will also pay you less cpm then a carrier that doesn't reimburse.
