You might notice how subtle the hand and leg commands were.
These two were terrific.
Now in your Cutting. No hand and leg commands are allowed...period.
You can initially point out the calf to cut
...and then from that point, the absolute rest is all the horse.
Trust me...it is no easy job, to even remain on the horse
during a Cutting event.
You can literally be left sitting in mid-air,
with the horse and calf 20 yards away.
Yeah, I thought it was cool how that horse was able to go along with the beat. I was counting notes the whole time. I guess, that's the drummer in me. That horse was right on time. The horse can count as good as me.
I love watching cutting horses. I do part time farm work for an outfit here. We hire cowboys to help us every once in a while when we are workin cattle. Those horses do all the work, and the cowboys just sit there. Amazing.
Couldn't tell for sure, but looked like Lipizzaner Stallions... They do precision movement shows... Saw them one year at a county fair in another state... Pretty horse...
Saw the Canadian mounted police precision horse show at another regional fair a year ago... It was interesting to watch... Those horses came within inches of each other, as they crossed one another in a precision formation...
Always enjoy the horse events at the yearly fairs... Draught Horse pull, Carriage driving on obstacle courses with 2, 4, 6, and more horse teams... Of course they always have the Clydesdales at the fairs as well...
I used to go to the regional 4-H fair, and watch the kids have fun... Every once in a while I'll go to annual Rodeo... Found out that in up state Vermont they have a Rodeo almost every weekend... They added Rodeo to a regional fair a few years back as well... Got to see the cowboys bull riding... I found it interesting that the bulls aren't as big as you would think, from watching the PBR Rodeo bull riding on television... Still it's fun to watch... Like that Bull "Little Yellow Jacket", small bull with a lot of power... He's retired now...
