Anyone know if a 1998 Volvo 610's heater/cooler panel on the dash has backlites? Mine is completely dark at night, making it useless to adjust.
You should have some sort of lights for it.
I know I should have some...but can anyone verify with their own 98 610 that it does?
Boy, you're really challenging my memory... but we did run a 610 for Digby Truck Lines (green) back when the VN series first came out. We bought our first truck shortly after that in 99 so I'm thinking we had a 98. I don't remember exactly, but I do no recal being SURPRISEd at the lights behind our 2000 770. Based on that vague memory... I'd say that YES there should be lights.
You can call most any Volvo dealer parts counter and give them the last 6 of your VIN and they should be able to look it up in the parts department. Most likely, your lights have simply burnt out and are probably really simple to replace.
actually... it's ONE light. They regularly go out, and the wiring gives me problems as well. I have a 99 770. It's just a little light ran into a network of fibre optics. Easy to fix, cheap, and doesn't take long.
thanks...I guess the trim plastic cover just pops off with a simple pry from a flathead?
I can't remember exactly, I think you have to take off the panel to the left of it first. Then there's some torx screws too. Don't get too excited with that flathead, volvo is pretty cheap with the plastic!
