I am wondering what drivers look for in their dispatchers? What makes a good dispatcher?
Common sense...and Honesty.
If you show that...you'd be the first.
I would say:
1) Not taking things personally; If a driver refuses, for what ever reason, to take a load, it is usually not a slight to the dispatcher.
2) Organization; Being 1,2, even 3 steps ahead of the game. Knowing, or at least having a general idea where all the drivers assigned to them are at all times. And knowing about each drivers status as far as available hours is at any given time.
These, i feel , are two good qualities of a good dispatcher. And i have worked with a few.
Not leavin' someone sit for days w/nothing to do, and then trying to give them loads that are gonna be late. "Organized"- definetly a plus.
