There's really nothing wrong or dangerous with a bolt being used, because there no pressure exerted on the joint. When the landing gear is lowered to the ground, the feet are designed so that they slide up and rest against the tubing of the landing gear. The pin, or bolt in some cases I guess, is only there to hold the feet onto the landing gear when they are raised.
