Gordo, I TOTALLY agree with you. When I was in my late teens the price of sugar went up dramatically. Remember when restaurants stopped having sugar containers on tables? Then all the candy companies upped the prices of their 10 cent candy bars and eliminated the 5 cent bars altogether. That was a sad time for all us kids. Your allowances just didn't get you what you wanted anymore. Even after the price of sugar fell considerably the candy makers didn't lower the prices.
I love Hershey kisses and so does my husband. He also likes the peanut butter cups. We decided not to buy any more Hershey products either. There are many families in and around Smith Falls, Ontario who are now out of jobs. I mean, not just one person in a family, but in many cases several members who all worked at the plant. Generations. I wonder if they'll end up regretting their decision. Be interesting to see what happens.
Yes, I remember that too, no sugar on the table, and no candy either, what a trying time! LOL.
I have always loved Hersheys, sad to see them go the way of so many once American institutions, all for the sake of a few more dollars, mostly for people who already have so much, they can't possible spend it all. But that is why they are rich and I'm not. They have a insatible greed, hoard everything, and could care less about fellow Americans or their families. But will be the first to demand those same families sacrifice their sons or daughters go fight a war to protect their investments. Sad times we live in.
Now have to find a new candy to enjoy. Heck, maybe I'll go on a diet! LOL>
