Default Wanted: truck dog/puppy

I'm new to the road & am looking for either a dog that is familiar with being otr, or.a puppy that could adapt. I'm especially interested in a medium to smaller large breed (sheltie to lab/boxer/bulldog size). Specific breed is unimportant, but does need to be good with kids & able to be a family dog too.

Why would you think that a dog would want to be locked up in a truck for hours on end?

Prisoners get treated better! Think about it.

Have you checked with your carrier to see if they will allow you to have a dog in their truck? Many carriers have a no pet policy. If you do get a dog you could limit your options should you decide to change jobs. Why don't you get a stuffed animal? You don't have to worry about it messing up the truck or losing your job if the company doesn't allow live pets.

my 3 year old boxer goes with me every day. but, she loves to sleep. she isnt really "locked up" all day. when i stop to get loaded from the time i'm done with paper work till i get the green light i'm outside walking running and playing with her. when it rains i got her toys in the truck, food, water etc. however, if you have a pet with you in the truck a APU is 100% necessary.

I would rather have my loved ones with me than sitting at home wondering what happened to me....

yes check with your company you work for as most of of are dropping pet policies. you may ask yourself why would a company do this. number one fuel usage from idling the truck 24-7 if it dont have an apu they have to cut corners somewhere to make profit and it's always on the driver. number 2 the damage an animal can do to the truck going to the bathroom in it and tearing things up wich cost more than the deposit they charge the driver. number 3 what happens if fido gets loose and runs and you have to go run after him and chase it and your late for a load?

Not true at all. Dogs love to travel more than anything else. What do you think they did in the wild with their pack? It's their instinct.
