ARB of CA Inquiry

Hi,

Has anyone put in Diesel Particulate Filters in trucks similar to these:

1998 with 1.2 million miles

2000 Freightliner with 1 million miles

1998 International with 1.7 million miles

If you have installed the Diesel Particulate Filters on the trucks how have the

truck been running?

Has it hurt the truck? Have there been any noticeable change in how it runs?

Lastly, How much did you pay for the filters?

Thank you for answering these questions for me. Hope to hear back soon.

I got a quote from Ironman in CA. to install a DPF on my 2004 Cat C15 and it came to over $18,000.
Bye bye California for me.

Hey Allan,

Thanks for replying. This info is very insightful!! $18,000 is quite steep. It certainly isn't worth it. Thanks again!

Well this all may just be a discussion not really worth having. Seems CARB has an amendment on the table to allow all pre-emission stuff to run California on a limited basis... no more than 5000 miles a year, without having to retrofit. Many folks who follow this stuff think that the amendment will be adopted.

Thank you Copperhead!!! This is information is very useful!!! I guess I can expect more rules to be piled on in the CARB as the years progress! Thanks again!! Greatly appreciate it!

Hi all,

Has anyone received any fines from the past 4 months to now from ARB? My understanding is that ARB inspectors will begin checking for compliance with the Truck and Bus deadline (Jan.1st 2013 & 2014) at the following locations such as CHP weigh stations, random roadside locations, distribution centers, fleet facilities, truck stops and other locations where trucks are present. Also, that inspectors will also perform electronic fleet audits.

Any info on if ARB is pursing to regulate and crackdown on these laws more so this year will be helpful. Thank you all for your cooperation!
