Abs indicator....???
 

What is the function of the ABS indicator ? how how does it work ??

The ABS light on the dash will usually come on when the system is not receiving a signal from the speed indicators on the trailer axles.

It can also indicate that there is no current flowing to the trailer ABS through the pigtail. We run across this very often, since our liftgates get charged through the ABS line. More often than not, if that light is illuminated, the liftgate isn't charging. This happens both with ABS and non-ABS trailers.

I don't know about yours lamt but my light says it is not supposed to come on unless the ABS has an issue. It's supposed to come on initially when I charge the trailer brakes then go off. If it stays on then I have an issue. Funny thing is, my ABS doesn't seem to work very well, I can lock the trailer tires very easily and drag them forever......so much for ABS.

have a isx ,if motor stops after 5minute idle and turbo timer isnt stopped before restarting within its winddown period abs light will stay on.

The ABS lights are meant to flash and malfunction to keep your attention on the back end of your trailer(s.) :lol:

They NEVER work properly, and can be attributed to many "light cord" anomalies, as well as computer "parameters" in your ECU that give false readings to the dashboard "alert" symbol.

My dashboard symbol used to stay on most of the time. I quit paying attention to it. Fedex mechanics check brakes and tires (and other things) on every trailer that comes into a yard before it can be loaded and dispatched. I do tug tests, and accept what I get. I also try not to get into a situation where I need to apply enough brake pressure to "learn" whether or not every trailer I pull has been "calibrated" perfectly.

One thing I DO know is this.... no one is paying attention to the functionality of the ABS "alert" system.

we turn our abs off when we are off road anyway.Want our brakes working properly there lol

I wish this was true. NY loves to write this ticket. I have lost count of how many times they have cited us for various ABS crap.

Let`s see there was the original ticket a few years ago for not having it hooked up (we just cut all the stupid wires).
Then there was the truck that didn`t have power to pin 7.
Then there was the light cord on a different truck that had the broken wire to pin 7.
Then there was the blown ABS bulb on the trailer.
Then there was the used trailer that we bought where the previous owner cut all the wires and removed all sensors.
Then there was the bent exciter wheel.
Then there was the broken ABS computer.

As of today, only one of nine trailers has an ABS problem. It won`t do the self test in spite of new exciter wheels, sensors and a computer. I think I may put pin 7 a toggle switch so I can flash the trailer ABS light manually when the cop asks me to turn the ignition on.
