Can split sleeper get me home 2 hours sooner tomorrow?
This is my last night on the road this week and I need to get home by a certain time tomorrow. If I do 10 hours in the sleeper and drive like a banshee tomorrow I'll get home with about 0 minutes to spare.
My 11 and 14 hours clocks don't come into play because I'm about 10 hours drive from home and don't have any stops to worry about. Can I do 8 hours tonight in the sleeper and just not worry about the other 2? Or log the other 2 after I get home? Help me out HOS wizards! |

The 8 hour break stops the 14 hour clock....but........did you have a two hour offduty break before you stopped?? Lot's of info missing. |
Simple answer?..... NO. The 8 hr S/B break pauses the 14 hour clock, but you still have to add the driving time before and after, and take the 2 after that TOTALS 11. IF (and that's a big if....) you only drove ONE hour before stopping for the night (after your last break of 2, 8, or 10 hours..... you could take the 8 and drive for 10 .... getting there 2 hours early with NO NEED to log the next 2 hr break at all.
Doubting that.... take your 10 and drive like the wind! |
Thanks for the help. Plan B it is then.
