Holy smokes...
I ran across this on Yahoo just now.
Canadian trucker fined for smoking on the job - Yahoo! News It's surprising that the subject of smoking in the cab hasn't come up often on here, especially with regards to hazmat haulers, although this is the first time I've seen it addressed from a legal perspective. |
I may not smoke but I don't agree with it. Mabe a company vehicle but your own vehicle would be a different ballgame. I guess if your goinna smoke, be careful.

I think if that happend to me, i would be in trouble for more than just smoking in my truck. I know that i wouldn't just sit there and take the ticket. :pissedoff:

I could imagine this going over real well here in the U.S.
Seeing lines of drivers along the shoulder of the highways, all stopping for smoke breaks every time they need to light up. How much driving would actually get done? |
I remember this coming up in Canada when they put the rule in while I was spending 4 days a week running through there. It was supposed to be aimed at offices, mills etc. but the canadian trucking mags pointed out that the "place of business" for a truckdriver is the truck. I think that at the time the Canadian Government said they were not interested in truckdrivers. But like all rules, they expand and expand and eat into your personnel liberty until you wonder what the heck happened.
