Safety Audit

Got a call this morning from DOT to schedule a new carrier Safety Audit. He say's it's to check to see what I'm doing right and wrong. He says there isn't any penalties or fines for anything missing. It's just to make you aware of how things work such as log books, drug testing, etc.

Is this correct or is this guy sugar coating the audit?

Be prepared to learn...and take honest advise to heart.

I have spoken with several people who have gone through their initial audit. None have had anything negative about it. Your first audit is a freebie. Those after can get expensive. The new entrant audits are performed in order to make sure new carriers are doing things correctly. I think that they are a good idea. They can offer advice that can keep you out of trouble.

I was just thinking....

I never remember Steve Booth ever mentioning his initial audit. Did I miss that thread?

Maybe they caught up with him recently?

Maybe his authority was revoked before he got a chance to get a notice for one.

Here is his SAFESTAT page, http://ai.volpe.dot.gov/SafeStat/Saf...hichForm=start

Here is his L & I page,
Motor Carrier Details

He has never been audited. That is odd to say the least. But his authority is active.

WAIT...correct that...he did get audited.

You know...I always thought trucks had to wear an apportioned plate, for legal purposes...not a personalized.
