So, when are trucking companies going to start telling their drivers---:"You must get a Passport" to continue to be qualified to drive for us?

If it was me I'd get the passport. If you only want to be able to cross over from Canada and Mexico then a PASS card would do.

As to when I doubt the majority of companies will require it. In all the years I drove I only had a few deliveries into Canada. And none into Mexico which I wouldn't go any way.

If you had a passport, you can escape to Fiji or Bora Bora anytime you wanted.

I just filled out the paperwork for my passport. I am not going to get caught in the rush of other people when it comes down to the wire for getting them. The lady at the post office said they have been coming back in 2-3 weeks but they tell you 4-6.

Filled and sent out paperwork on March 15, recieved passport on March 28. 13 days, not too bad.

I haven't gotten back on the road yet, but, I can say that I applied with Maverick and they say they will apply for your passport for you. I would think if any company wants their drivers going to Canada and Mexico they would do that. Companies have the internal systems in place to take care of all this for the driver and get the passports expedited to suit their needs.

One good thing about going into Canada, if you can find the right place to stop, you can buy Cuban cigars!!! 8) but you'll have to tuck them away crossing back over. And if you wanted to buy a full box its best to ship them home, but it can be done.
