Difficulty of transferring CDL to a new state
We're looking at possibly moving back into Oklahoma at some point, and were wondering how hard or what we need to be prepared for in transferring my husband's CDL. I tried searching for an easy explanation online but didn't get anywhere. Thanks!

Re: Difficulty of transferring CDL to a new state
Just be ready to provide all the documentation Oklahoma requires for an out-of-state conversion. Check the state's motor vehicle department website, but I'd assume you'd need to provide:
The current CDL A valid medical card A social security card Proofs of residency, which can include a copy of your lease or mortage, and copies of mail such as bank statements. |
The only thing you need to be prepared for is to take the hazmat test again and possibly undergo another background check.
Other than that it should only be a matter of applying for a liscence in your new state. |

you dont need a medical card to get a license. you only need it to drive |
in TN if you don't have your valid medical card with you when you have a cdl then you don't have a license.. you can't do anything at dmv without having your valid medical card with you. also in TN as of 10-18-06 you need to bring your birth certificate to take the has-mat test.

Yes, the first thing they asked from me was my medical card at the Tennessee Dept of Safety.
