Best way to handle this ticket?
 

Coming through Texas on my way home today, I got popped witha pretty nice ticket. 79mph in a 65 zone, more or less I had jumped out to the left lane to pass some slower moving cars (as in slower than 65mph) and ended up hanging out in the left lane til I could clear all of them. As I was about 1/2 way past the line of cars, I noticed 2 DPS cars, and a un-marked Impala on the right hand side of the road, too late for me to slow down as the DPS started rolling already. Anyways, what's the best way to handle thsi ticket? I'm obviously guilty and wouldn't plan on saying that I wasn't, but is there a way I can try to get the ticket reduced, or kept off of my record? I don't need any bashing telling me I am an idiot or anything like that, so if that's all your planning on doing, keep your BS out of my post...here for honest assistance.

What kind of advice do you think anyone can really offer after this kind of "professional" conduct? My advice? Get ready to sell some stuff to pay off this ticket and maybe you'll be able to keep your job...maybe not.

I think your pretty lucky!!!!! Good thing he got you at 79 and not 80, seems like that 15 mph over the speed limit is were they really hit you in a CMV. I would just say get a lawyer and see what he can do? If not pay the fine and go on, being under the 15 mph over i doubt it's going to be a REAL serious thing? But depends on county and all that crap.

Ps, to add on. A buddy that I went to school with that I talk to alot and he is a driver, he got nailed for 17 over. He paid a lawyer 500 and got it reduced to a seat belt. He had a clean record but was running down 68 thru MD and got nailed in the 45 mph zone.

14 over is no carer killer, come on Fozzy like he asked keep the BS out.

Fozzy never said career killer. He said keep your job, which all depends on the company policy.

Your best and only bet is to hire an attorney familar with CDL and traffic laws in Texas.

You got real lucky. If the law had cited you for 15 over that would have been a major violation and two of those would have been an automatic 6 month suspension, at the least.

I would hire one of those "truckers lawyers", and see if you can get it reduced. Beyond that, there is probably not much you can do. I would suggest, however, that you stay away from "INTERSTATE TRUCKER", which is one of those services. Quite a few years ago, I hired them to fight a ticket for me, and OOPS - they forgot to enter my plea, and I was hit with a judgement.

Get a lawyer and try to plead it down with the prosecuting attorney before it goes to trial. You might try to call the prosecuting attorney, or JP before you get a lawyer just to see how receptive they may be. Some will work with you others will not. Some of it will depend on your attitude. for a few hundred dollars or more find a criminal atty a good ol boy to make that one little call and reduce it to a civil penalty don't make the call yourself. unless your exp with bsing lawyers.

If your a company driver and getting fired for that reason, I would consider that a Career killer, not many good company's is going to hire you if your terminated. Depends i guess on what kind of job you want and what kind of company you want to drive for.
