Color Blind DAC
I recently received my DAC report. To my surprise I am a black man with green eyes ( I am a white man with blue eyes). This person with my exact same name & birth date obviously has a criminal record and I'm being told by USIS (DAC) this is my criminal record. I contacted USIS(DAC), and informed them of this slight error - I was told " This is up to the companies you apply for to sort out."
Can anyone out there please give me some advice on how to straighten out this problem? |
Since Dac is providing erronous information they are, by law, to make the info correct once it is proven to be incorrect.
What I would do if is to write DAC a formal letter stating what the incorrect information is and also provide them with a copy of your ID to prove you are who you say you are. |

I'd agree with Yoopr on that. Get a lawyer.

CHeck the details in the 'fair credit reporting act' wich they operate under.
I think you have to inform them in writing of the error first, giving them 'opportunity' to fix the error. An unofficail request to fix it is no request atall; If they still dont fix it, wich i seriously doubt, you might have a case. Thats what a lawyer will likely tell you. You might oughtta get advised by a lawyer before writing the letter as to the format of it. |
Thanks everyone for your advice. I truly wonder if DAC just does not care if their information is accurate or not.
Another question for all you fine people. Why do all these trucking companies use the same information source ( DAC ) ? Surely there are other sources they can use. In my opinion this is all about money - not about accuracy. Can anyone give me another reason? |
as far as your criminal background goes, what happens when a 20/20 (criminal background check) is run, there can be hits on many things - a match on the last name, the first 3 letters of the first name, and birthdate - or all of those things plus a SSN.
for instance, say i run a dac for someone named Barton Jones, born 10/25/1978. and someone who lives in the same state, named Bartholemew Jones, born the same day, went on a crime spree one day and held up a convenience store, stole a police car, and kidnapped a senators baby, all while high on crack. more than likely, poor Barton's 20/20 is going to bring all of that up. obviously, barton does not equal bartholemew, so that's easy enough to disregard. but if whatever dac is bringing up is NOT you, you can contact the county in which these records are showing up, and ask them to write you a letter stating that the charges are not you, and you have a clean crminal record. |
never known a DAC report to provide racial info??? can this be true?

Keep checking on your Bank Account also for any unknown debits.
