Some people like driving team, most I talk with don't care for it at all. Those who do enjoy it are usually paired with their spouse or close relative. 8)

had to do it ONCE because of a HOT load from up here to Nogales-That is the ONLY time I'll EVER do it-can't sleep in a Moving truck.

I am the odd ball (for the most part) on this forum. I enjoy teaming and have been without my partner since beginning of July. I team with my best friend - I really miss him out here. I wish I could say all is well but I'm having a tough time with sleep and the silence. Guess we have been together too long.

Sorry to hear 'bout your friend. But why the sad face, isn't he coming back?

THX a mil guys!

Oh, one more thing...................

Wouldn't the 'truck owners' prefer teams, -being that more miles means more income?

Partner comes back to the truck August 8 which doesn't sound far away but when you have been partnering for 25 years, what do you think? I'm tired of eating breakfast alone there is no conversation at all in the truck, dead silence is horrible. Anymore at night the CB gives me a headache - so that is kick to low.

I've told dispatch I've got be home by August 4th - need to do an oil change and couple other things before we leave.

Sleepy Time - still drinking but the sleep isn't the same when the truck is moving. My best sleep is when I'm exhausted - then I can knock out 10 hours of sleep.

Team driving can be hard at first, not use to falling asleep in a moving truck and trying to convince yourself that even though its 2 in the afternoon, you need to get some sleep because your going to be up all night doing your part. Who you run with makes a difference, my dad runs at his own pace so when I throw off his schedule he gets a little grumpy, my brother on the other hand, we run none stop with a meal and shower once a day but after 2 weeks of each other we need a break.

If i could just convince the wife to start driving--wait never mind, her driving in a car scares the crap out of me, hate to think of her driving a truck.

Mandilon 07-20-2005 06:30 PM

...seriously, who would you prefer as a co-driver (including your wife)?

yoopr 07-20-2005 10:08 PM

having your wife as Co-driver would be a GOOD test of your Relationship :P

That's a double edge sword - I would never drive with my husband. We'd kill each other in the first week.

Some are better than me. I'm just happy we have made it 15 years w/o major problems. Of course, that is probably due to the fact I'm not home.

I've done both solo and team, team now, but going back to solo. I have no problem sleeping in a moving truck, but:

1: I can't turn my music up loud while he sleeps
2: Every codriver I've ever had talks my ear off when I want peace and quiet
3: I end up getting woke up because he's lost and needs my help
4: Some codrivers want to get out and "help" service the truck during fuel stops. Fact is, they're in my way.
5: The truck sleeper is small enough. Put a second guy in here with his stuff, and it becomes cramped.

i`ve got a few reasons for not wanting to run team.

1. I can talk to anybody, stranger best friend crackhead it doesn`t matter, but I can`t stand being around the same person 24/7

2. the money I make running by myself is more then enough for my bills and to save a nice chunk in the bank every month.

3.I own my truck and i`m the only person I trust behind the wheel of it, hell I do all my own maintenance but I was out for the last 10 weeks runnin hard and had to stop off for two oil changes and me and a mechanic at a TA almost got into cause i wanted to drive it into the bay and he insisted I couldn`t

4. when there was still a slight chance I would even consider running team I was driving for somebody else, my rig broke down in chattanooga on the way to florida so he sent another driver out to pickup me and the load and get back home, after driving 7 hours and being awake for 20 afterwards waiting on the driver to get to me I was beat by the time I climbed in his rig, 30 minutes after passing out i`m thrown out of bed to find an acura under the bumper of his once beautiful w900...

i`ll never ever run team now :D
