Adding a 3rd Dog to the Dog Pound

Well just put a deposit down on this Mack. 2007 Mack CHN613 with a 410hp and a 10speed. Sits on camelback suspension. Truck has 303,000 miles on it. It has a Jurop RV360 vacuum pump on it already which is nice. To install a pump on a tractor is 12,500 to 16,000 depending a pump etc. The trailer is a 2007 Heil 150 barrel (6300 gallons) Spring suspension as well. This is my 3rd truck. I landed a few contract jobs with bigger treatment plants so i had to step my game up. They are asking $55,500 for truck and $29,500 for trailer. Of course im gonna try and haggle when i get there in person. Im flying out the morning of the 5th to Dallas. If every thing goes as plan. Leaving Dallas with truck to head to Sawyer Kansas to pick up trailer then coming back to philly. Gotta call the paint shop to set appointment up to paint truck matching colors. Might even paint the trailer. Not sure on that yet.

Gonna be looking for a driver fulltime. But he has to be crossed train. to run straight truck and trailer. Hopefully i dont have to much trouble finding a good one lol.

Nice looking equipment, Mackman. You keep this up and you may just be a trucking mogul. :D

Im trying lol. Go Big or Go Home. Well nice thing in my line of work. as long as people have azzholes i will have Sh*t to haul. Nice thing is most hauling contracts are 3 years. So you know you will have steady work for 3 years. and its contracted price. So you dont have to worry about that. So far Sh*t hauling has been good to me.

Great news...........glad you are doing well in a crappy biz...........sorry, i couldnt pass that up..

I hear them all Maniac lol

Another question. You guys with drivers. What are you paying for workmans comp?? Since I will only have 1.5 drivers. 1 fulltime and 1 part time. Alot of insurance compaines for workmans comp dont want to touch me. and the rates im getting seem high.

One more question. The truck will have a temp/ transport tag when i pick it up. Then when i bobtail to get trailer that will have a temp/transport tag. Can the truck pull the trailer on a temp/transport tag?? I think i would have to really get a azzhole cop to bust my balls over it. But can the truck legally pull the trailer on a temp tag??

Maniac 10-29-2015 10:34 PM

Temp tag should work, just have all the paperwork on both units, bill of sale etc

Also have a log book, show 7 days off duty on one page, and then log the rest of the trip as you do it,(more or less) keep the hotel reciepts for the layovers and you should be fine

As far as workers comp, I dont have it, but I know it aint cheap, usually a percent of the wages
