34 hr. restart rules thrown out?
According to CNN. com the new restart rules were eliminated. Supposedly they were thrown out as a part of the government funding bill. Can anyone confirm this info?

i got a email from land line earlier today and it said that it could be thrown out. not sure if it was or wasn't tho.

I think it passed the congress but still needs to pass the senate.

I think they may have put a new rule in that bill that allows DOT to shoot truckers if they suspect they may have any log violations. Local police will only be permitted to choke you out!!!!

It is my understanding that the only thing that changed is the 34 hour reset rule. We can now do as many resets as we wish and we no longer need to have part two 1 am to 5 am rest periods in our reset. The ruling requires the fmcsa to do a study to prove that the rule is necessary. This rule could come back, but they will have a difficult time proving that roads are safer with a single reset each week and that forcing drivers to wait until they have two periods of rest between 1 am to 5 am is necessary for drivers to get their rest. Not everyone likes to sleep at night. The change should free up some parking spots at truck stops. We still have the 30 minute break requirement.
