what would you do?
so, one of my dad's trucks (his 2000 classic XL) was in the shop to get 2 mufflers put on. the doors and windows were up. one mechanic comes out and notices the interior is up in flames. they put it out and apparently the fuse box went up. burnt the dash, fuse box and the top shelf. we called the insurance company right away. they actually showed up the day after. they called my dad and said that it looks like its reparable so far. i gotta up load the pics to my computer and ill post them. the question is.. what would you do? i'm saying IF it is fixable i'd like frightliner to fix it just for the fact, all their parts and if something happens on the road just go in to a freightliner dealer. i've brought my truck to freightliner for a lot less then that. so what would y'all do?

...kick the guys ass that put the fire out.

^^^^^^X2
but now that the damage is done you might as well go ahead and fix the fire damage. Have the shop do it that way if they miss a bruned/shorted wire it's covered. If you take the money and fix it yourself any problems are going to fall on YOU! |

You can have it fixed wherever you want. May have to pay the tow to a FL dealer.

what about the smell? IF its fixable (i'm hoing its not) what about the smell in it? they assure us that there will be no smell
|
Good cleaning will get rid of the smell. Had the sleeper wireing short out in one and when it was done it you couldn't smell anything. If you can still smell anything don't accept it.

we'll see this week. again i really hope its totaled.. i really wish that i had the cash to build a glider. this thing runs mint.. mint mint. top half of the motor only has 150k, new rears and new clutch.

I would insist on replacing all the wiring, which is the proper, but very costly way to do it. May be they will be considering totaling...
