Bedbugger

I'm thinking 5 years ahead, But i was wondering about the pro's & con's of household movers. I'm thinking in about 5 years when my step-son is 18, that me and the wife could hit the road together. I'm thinking of buying my own truck and driving around the country with her. I'm thinking that i could see more things off the "main roads" if i got into hhg than i would if i ran reefers or flats. Any thoughts and/or comments????? I do realize that a lot of things could change in 5 years...

I don't know if I'd want to start a business today.

I'm thinking 5 years from now if things don't get any worse than they are now.. Who knows, my wife could divorce me by then, and I could end up with a 18 year old nymphomaniac

If you want to get off the beaten path in a truck, get into enclosed auto transport. Plus, driving Lamborghinis, Ferraris, McLarens, Bentleys, and assorted classic cars is a hell of lot more fun than moving furniture.

I would think you'd want to specialize, if you were to continue in trucking, "semi-retired." :)
HHG can be as miserable and low pay as any trucking, and you start usually at the bottom. This is also some hard work.

You would have to wiggle into areas not meant for you, maybe even rent a smaller truck to haul it out to you. Aren't these drivers in court allot too? Damaged or missing property, and running a late move.

The drivers that make good money, been doing it awhile to get there. Some may luck out with a long haul mover, or hauling the military around.

Maybe even flatbedding wouldn't be a bad gig to see the country.
